The 2020 USA POTUS election politics, the civil war, and the world war (Part 1)

I respectfully disagree. It’s a perfect fit. Consider:

This is the biggest election bombshell to hit so far. The ramifications are FAR reaching. Both the election for POTUS and critical down ballot races will be impacted. Case in point:

How would you like to be in Susan Collins’ shoes this evening!!

This is an absolute political earthquake. And I have no clue how Trump will play it. Sure he will nominate a replacement ASAP. But just how conservative will that replacement be? If he goes too far to the right he easily might lose Collins, Murkowski, Gardner, Romney, and possibly other Republicans as well.

Trump can only afford to lose three votes in the Senate. And you know that even were Trump to nominate an actual moderate, the Democrats would portray that person, for political purposes, as being a right wing ideologue.

I also have to wonder how our gal Kamala will play this during the hearings. She will be needed out on the trail. She also will be needed in DC as she sits on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Tough one for Harris.

Pursuant to the above:

Seeing now over on Drudge that virtue-signalling Murkowski is screaming she will not vote for a replacement for RBG prior to the election. With “Republicans” like sweet Lisa the Democrats don’t have a care in the world. It’s enough to make you want to take up arms and attack Alaska.

If Mitt, who is a jackass, joins Lisa then the Republicans will be screwed. This because control of the Senate would be thrown very much into question if both Collins and Gardner are placed on the hot seat. Jackass Romney has no real problem; he is not up for reelection this year. But you know how he loves to screw over Trump and the Republicans. Lisa also is not on the ballot until 2022. If they lose both Murkowski and (ugh!) Romney, Trump and Mitch have a REAL dilemma on their hands right out of the box!!

ETA

I don’t know why Murkowski just doesn’t change parties and get it over with. That ****h is a huge PITA. Thank God Flake, McCain, and Corker are gone. If they were still around it would already be over for our side.

This is the problem with today’s government. Far too many voting based on politics, rather than on merits. How could anyone possibly make an informed decision to vote no before anyone has even been named?

I neglected above to mention Martha McSally. She is another Republican with a major problem in terms of being elected on November third. She is running against that astronaut guy from Gadsden Purchase territory (Tucson). I wish we could give that Gadsden purchase land back to Mexico. It’s a HUGE lib region.

Anyway, Martha is a fine Senator and a superb person; former Air Force. I want badly for her to retain her Senate seat, but it’s FAR from a sure thing and a vote for the wrong RGB replacement could harm her prospects.

Let’s play a game. Guess the name of the congressman without clicking the link below. I did.

U.S. Admits that Congressman Offered Pardon to Assange If He Covered Up Russia Links

I was trying to guess the name of the biased media reporting source for the false headline, but I guessed wrong.

As background, the discussion of a pardon for Assange is not a new claim by his lawyers, having come up earlier this year and in years past, but surfaced again recently as an argument against his US extradition trial currently ongoing. As a further aside, Assange getting railroaded for all these years has been a great disappointment for the free press and excellent reporting his organization has done.

I admit I was impressed at how well the deception of what happened was written into that Daily Beast article, specifically the implication that Assange was expected to lie about the source of the DNC leaks which is not actually supported by any evidence. Three links deep, you find a quote from your said ex-congressman:

”I spoke to Julian Assange and told him if he would provide evidence about who gave WikiLeaks the [DNC] emails I would petition the president to give him a pardon,” Rohrabacher said.

Here’s a more balanced article from Reuters on the same thing.

[Assange’s lawyer] said Rohrabacher and an assistant offered to arrange a pardon for Assange in return for information about the hacking of Democratic emails before the 2016 U.S. presidential election.

“The proposal put forward by Congressman Rohrabacher was that Mr. Assange identify the source for the 2016 election publications in return for some form of pardon, assurance or agreement, which would both benefit President Trump politically and prevent U.S. indictment and extradition,” Robinson said.

Basically, they wanted proof of the source who gave WikiLeaks the DNC emails, with no reference to lying about who it was or that it couldn’t be Russia or whatever. At the time, Trump was fighting Russian election conspiracy charges, subsequently unsupported in Mueller’s final report, but it’s easy to see that it might be helpful to Trump’s political situation then if the leak source could be found and proved not to be Russia (since it was already assumed to be Russia at that point).

Yeah, I figured I’d post it without commentary so we could at least have a day in reflection of Ginsburg’s impressive life, accomplishments, and career.

I’m sure in due course we can move on to anticipating the upcoming Senate confirmation circus over who Amy Barrett date-raped 30 years ago.

538 launched their senate forecast.

Outlook doesn’t look great.

50-50 is their most likely outcome

Translation:. The negotiations included a block of money to support seniors, but that support was ambiguous and unspecified. So these $100 cards were tossed out as a quick and simple means of distributing the assistance. The industry balked because they wanted to do something with a trumped up value but only costing them pennies on the dollar (or to delay providing anything until everyone forgets about the obligation entirely).

(ugh!) Romney’s bitter hatred for Trump, his general animus, and his uncontrollable envy are rising up and oozing out of every bodily orifice.

Romney, straight up, is a liberal snake. He was permanently tarnished by all the time he spent in Taxachusetts. I think he will do anything he can to ensure Trump loses this election. And with the death of RBG there suddenly is a LOT he can do.

I wrote above about Martha McSally. There is a critical aspect I overlooked. This is big, very big:

McSally is losing in the polls, as I write this, to astronaut Mark Kelly. McSally was also appointed to fill Senator McCain’s seat when he passed away.

Now here is the kicker:

Because she was appointed, should Kelly defeat McSally he would be entitled to her seat early, possibly as soon as thirtieth of November!!

If the fight to seat a new SCOTUS Justice remains ongoing then, the Republicans will have just two votes to spare, not the three they have now. And with the defectors on the Republican side, even three votes might not be enough to allow them to choose the replacement for RBG.

I really have no clue how Trump and McConnell will be able to navigate this most difficult situation.

45 days to election - Trump’s wall of caskets is over 200,000

On the plus side, the 210 miles is significantly more than the 5 miles of actual new fencing coverage on the southern border… So I guess in a way he’s carrying through on the campaign promise now?

You lefties are delighted to politicize anything whatsoever; even death.

The virus is a force majeure which fell conveniently into the laps of the left. There is no question in my mind that even more lives would have been lost so far had either Obama or Biden been in the big chair.

When President Trump closed down travel from China in January, Biden quickly labelled him a xenophobe. And Pelosi went bat crap crazy in reaction to Trump’s move. Those are your people. And they are unvarnished idiots.

Trump is not responsible for the existence of the virus. He’s fully responsible for the consequences, especially those that follow from his gross negligence and malevolent actions (like hiding the facts).

Trump himself declared he was a “wartime president” early on this year. Wartime presidents have always taken full responsibility for loss of life under their leadership. (Maybe the obvious difference is a failure in leadership? I guess one could try to argue that with no competent leadership there is no responsibility?) Right, this is the “I take no responsibility” President.

Crazy Trump apologists always have someone else to blame for consequences of Trump’s actions and inactions, instead.

Citation needed. Oh right. There isn’t one. Because Biden never said that, it’s a complete fabrication.

Nevermind that Trump did not “close down travel from China in January”, but merely made some inconsequential restrictions on travel only applying to specific nationalities of travelers from China…

Can’t believe I heard (saw) you say that. Thank you so much. We won’t forget.

Trump did, indeed, shut 'er down. Of course he could not, and he did not, forbid re-entry by thousands of American citizens who where trapped abroad.

That’s absurd. Border control is one of the primary functions of the Federal Government. Mandating and managing quarantines is fully within the ability of the Federal Government. And it did so. but NOT for the travel you claim was “shut down” (where it did so, it did so in a negligent manner, ‘accidentally’ releasing people from quarantine early before they recovered… but, I digress…).

It even prevented citizens from returning to US soil, and kept them offshore in a cruise ship, while Trump railed at Tucker Carlson in a Task Force meeting.

I wouldn’t take responsibility when I was relegated to the sidelines, too.

It’s a great strategy, when you’re allowed to get away with it. Cry “State’s rights!” and “Unconstitutional!” when someone tries to claim authority over a situation, then crucify him for not effectively executing that same authority you so adamantly refuted.
