The 2020 USA POTUS election politics, the civil war, and the world war (Part 1)

If you were campaigning for Senator of South Carolina, would you expect to have to fight off a massive inflow of funds from California and where-ever else? That fundraising disparity bears no reflection on the state, it’s the definition of outsiders trying to buy an election.

I dont have to request my mail ballot for two more weeks. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I’m tempted to wait until then, so that I can cry voter suppression when it’s inevitably not received in time to be counted. But that would require attempting to cast a vote. And I refuse to help contribute to this boondoggle of a mess.

You got that right, sister. I would have to be nuts at my age to visit a polling place, possibly wait on line, and then enter a closed, poorly ventilated, room alongside other persons of unknown status vis a vis the virus. Voting is an important civic duty. But it is not as important as saving my own life.

Here where I live the virus is much more prevalent now than it was earlier this year. I guess people have simply thrown all caution to the the wind.

There’s a difference between belittling someone over how they feel, and simply not caring how they feel.

Regardless, stooping to their level only makes you just as bad. I’m sick of it, from all directions.

This is demonstrably incorrect. You see, negative attack advertising has proven to be quite effective in politics. More effective than regular advertising in fact.

We can just ask the guy who came up with Jeb low energy, sad Bush, Hillary is a secret killer Clinton and Ted your wife is ugly and your dad killed Kennedy Cruz about its effectiveness and how he did in his campaign. He’s sitting in the White House and the head of the Republican Party, and the 2020 party platform is literally ‘whatever he wants’.

See, the thing about the this is that while neither side should use it as it’s a despicable mean bully tactic as you said, one side DOES use it. I am merely using the Republican tactic. Clearly you do not like that I am using Republican tactics against you. Perhaps this will make you rethink the tactics and goals of Republicans since they will stoop into the gutter.

Whatever the guys who write the laws call it. Jack’s got a subpoena for censoring the house judiciary when they hosted the NYP article on the official government site, and they’re also calling for a FEC investigation for election interference.

Censor the little people if you want, but your betters don’t take kindly to it.

It’s free speech. We’ve already covered that.

Its true that many of those dying and sick are not responsible, but it’s not true that both sides are responsible. The leadership and masses of one side have actively opposed things like mask wearing.

Own it. The name calling and mud slinging are coming from inside the Republican house. The people than can change the discourse are the people of the party doing the mudslinging.

How many negative attack ads change the mind of the subject of the attack?

If we ask Sad Bush, Killer Clinton and Ugly-Wife Cruz, I’m pretty sure they’ll all say that it expressly did not prompt them to jump onto the Trump bandwagon.

Almost all the articles posted here are mudslinging and name calling being directed at the republican house.

Free speech is an interesting defense, when that free speech consists entirely of denying others the right of free speech.

Yeah, isn’t that what Citizens United established?

Havnt you heard, responding to subpoenas is optional now.

I dont have to convince you, only people reading these forums, which is a number larger than the two of us.

And besides, Ted your wife is ugly and you dad killed Kennedy actively campaigned and worked the phones for Trump, so it seems to work with Republicanz.

I’m pretty sure Citizens United has zero relevance to what I said.

No shoes no shirt no service. Private business can make any rules they want, they dont have to allow speech, or sandals. Same reason the local newspapers dont have to print every screed sent in as a letter to the editor.

This isn’t hard. Republicans say bakers dont have to bake gay wedding cakes, Twitter doesnt have to allow pictures of gay wedding cakes or people saying "I love gay wedding cakes.

/ And yes, the courts have ruled that a private organization can have religious beliefs. See the Hobby Lobby decision.

Money is speech. And since speech is free, I can spend my speech wherever I feel like, such as taking out at ad in the Anchorage News if i felt like it and they agree to it. That’s what Citizens United established.

If you dont like that, well that’s exactly what opponents of that decision have been trying to tell you would happen.

I had the impression that it is just Trump deciding to try and spoil Biden’s viewership numbers for his town hall. Anything he can do to point to it later and say his was bigger or better.

Exactly. Which is entirely irrelevant to my comment.
