Is FSM an acronym for the flying spaghetti monster?
I singled out black people not because of successes or failures, but because success comes at a much higher cost and effort to some groups than others due to systemic discrimination at all levels, be it explicit (on purpose) or implicit (without explicit knowledge or recognition of own behaviors). Opportunity is not evenly or fairly distributed.
No need to explain to me the conservative ideal of “carrot and stick”. I don’t disagree with it, certainly some motivation is necessary. The problem is that not everyone who works hard gets the carrot. In fact, there are people who work much harder than others and never get out of poverty. This is in part due to an unlivable minimum wage and a huge disparity in income and wealth distribution. The entire society ends up supporting the minimum wage Walmart workers because they qualify for all kinds of government assistance, even though Walmart is a huge corporation and could easily raise those wages and make their workers less reliant on the dole.
Thank you.
Agreed. And that was wrong. I have always believed in offering everyone their shot, and that is how I conducted myself.
But there is such a thing as “give an inch and they take a mile”. I’m not willing to stand by with acceptance as any minority attempts to tear apart the history of my country. It is going FAR beyond Confederates, where there might be reasonable justification. I’m unwilling to surrender Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, Columbus, and myriad others, along with the wonderful heritage to which each contributed. Enough is enough. And I have had MUCH more than enough of this sort of cultural revolution BS.
Yes, that part caught my attention also. But, Bend3r article on Psychology Today was pretty interesting. Of course I caught the good parts for we Conservative folks,
We don’t cower in the corner all day instead…With our conditioned conservative brains …
We see Trump trying to bring jobs back… or want strong immigration laws, country with open borders is not sustainable… practical concerns above moral ones, didn’t really make a difference when he said he could grab the vagina etc.
Psychology info always catches my interest. I can always find myself… good & bad.
What!? Patty might have a word or two to say about this! “Erasing history!”
You see everyone can draw a line somewhere. I draw the line at past presidents.
FTFY.
For vandalism? Sure. Or I’d draw the line close to (but not equal to) “none are acceptable” for vandalism.
But, unless there’s all the presidents lined up in a row at one location… I don’t see why it should be sacrosanct that you could never move a singular statue of any president for any reason, until the end of time. That still seems like a pretty arbitrary line to draw. IMO, there’s various reasons to move or replace a statue.
What Trump actually said is that when you are famous they LET YOU grab them.
Liberals always report that as if Trump did something against the wishes of the women . . you know . . like Bill Clinton did. Clinton did not have permission. He forced himself on women.
Trump’s actual words reveal that he was permitted by the women to do what he did.
How about Chris and Ben? Were they so horrible to you that you cannot bear to look at them?
While not Presidents, Columbus and Franklin were important and essential historical figures.
Sure, past Presidents and Founding Fathers. Chris can go f*ck himself in a museum. I don’t know enough about others, like Sutter or Junipero Sierra.
It’s an interesting take, though not entirely honest. He did say: "I’m automatically attracted to beautiful… I just start kissing them… I don’t even wait… And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. "
This could also be interpreted as if they let him get away with it because he’s a star (or maybe they didn’t and he just paid them off and got a NDA), they did not permit the violations in advance. It’s not exactly the same. Plus I’m pretty sure we have other examples where he did things he didn’t really have permission to do, like walking into a changing room full of underage girls at Miss Universe or whatever.
We conservatives decided that if Melania didn’t care, then why should we… We choose to vote for him with our eyes wide open, So that’s the end of the story…
Don’t you mean Ivanka??
Where do u get all these resources? As Biden would say, “do you have a record album”? (or something like that)
That’s just kind of awkward. Not creepy. Creepy would be “If it wasn’t illegal, perhaps I’d be married to my daughter.”
I mean, I can understand looking at family members objectively, and finding them attractive (both physically and intellectually). The fact they’re family still pre-empts all other potential feelings.
??? Are you referring to the auto summary? That was the most benign…
Edit: not really benign when in context… But the sentence by itself is benign…
Really? There’s no difference between a Barber shop and a Walmart? Inside my car it’d take a few breaths to spread whatever I have throughout the car. I’m pretty sure I could stand inside Walmart for hours and not have a measurable impact on the air quality.
So yeah, some indoor places are a lot closer to outdoors than they are to other indoor places. Go ahead and apply your blanket criteria, I’ll stick to common sense.
… More droplets are spewed, for a further distance, adding more contamination to surfaces others are touching. So yeah, pretend droplets aren’t an issue. Neither is air (despite the smaller droplets also hanging in air for a significant amount of time). Everyone’s wrong, it’s not contagious at all.
I’m not pretending anything. Why is outdoors “safer”? Because there’s more air to dissipate whatever you’re exhaling. Surely you cant be disputing that there’s more air circulating in a 200,000 sq ft building than in a 300 sq ft building?
Massively more air circulation
Also, UV
Regarding politics, I think there is a fair bit of biology/genetics to how people are wired and correspondingly which politicial ideas they find attractive. For example, a raised-apart twin study from the 90s showed that aspects of social views like traditional values (or the opposite), religion (or not), etc, were fairly strongly inherited (just like intelligence and many other traits). This was independent from many of the effects you might naively think were due to being raised in the same household with a particular set of moral or political views.

Broadly speaking, I think at a psychological level, conservatives are motivated by greed and fear, while liberals are motivated by compassion and envy.
