Did Merkel get off the stage just in time, or what!?
Somebody has to point this out. Guess it’s gonna be me.
Former East German Angela Merkel, who just prior to now was in charge in Germany and who was acknowledged as the smartest woman in the world, was a dunce. She really was messed up, her “new world order” thinking was ridiculous, and her failure to spend Germany’s promised 2% on NATO was a massive error.
Merkel’s dogmatic wrongheadedness was opposed, quite rightly, by President Trump. But Merkel had the unflinching support of the liberal media, here and in Europe. They ridiculed Trump mercilessly while she pursued her erroneous policies without real opposition.
Trump was right. Merkel, an idiot, was wrong, but until Ukraine nobody caught on. Now both Merkel and Trump are off the stage. The liberal media will never fess up to its past errors. And we have REAL disarray across Europe, with Germany scrambling to clean up the shambles Merkel left behind there.

Thankfully no, but I hear every couple in the ads these days has to be mixed race with a black guy, and our Hollywood betters are recasting all the old comic book heroes as non white races and often the opposite gender, perhaps with some trans / queer / etc sexuality thrown in. Villains and criminals must be white.
Speaking of Hollywood, they’re not exactly endearing themselves to the general public and the Oscars would have been the worst ever if there wasn’t some drama where some black dude punched another dude for dissing his wife. And then the assaulting party immediately was given the top award and has suffered no legal repercussions. Apropos of our times, sadly.
You will not find a more staunch pro-life person on this board than me. Assisting women to get abortions is right up there with assisting in the death of any innocent person of any age. But, this is leftists doing exactly what they should be doing. Citi should have no say over what individual residents of each state believe is immoral. I’ve long pointed out that if Roe v. Wade (and Planned Parenthood v. Casey) were repealed, more than half this country would still have legal abortion, with many states allowing it up until birth. The left’s solution to this is simple - pay for people to travel to abortion friendly states if it’s so dire that they kill their unborn child. Most on the left have always rejected this strategy, instead wanting to impart their morality (or lack-thereof) onto others, act as true slacktivists, and save money. You have to hand it to Citi. They are the first on the left to actually put their money where their mouth is knowing it would go public. I say, “Thank You Citi,” for showing me your true colors. I already had temporarily discontinued my use of my Double Cash card in favor of another card’s sign up bonus, but now I will try to make that cancellation permanent.
I assume the average user of cash back CCs on this site is breakeven at best to the CC company, and quite possibly a fair bit negative in terms of net economic impact. If you dislike Citi for their social policies, you should single out their CCs for extra dedicated exploitation to the extent they’re dumb enough to allow that.
Back in the good old days, I remember opening a $100k Citi bank account every month with my $100k Citi “5% on everything for 3 months” card, which I kept applying for every 3 months. Haven’t been back since, but I’ve been chasing stocks in recent years more than points. Those marketing guys sure knew how to get lots of new applications in the door!
Over the long run, they’ve definitely lost money on me as I was a longtime Citi Forward cardholder (5% back at restaurants and amazon in its heyday), I’ve received $1,100 in bank bonuses from them, several hundred in other credit card signup bonuses, and have never paid them a dime in interest or fees on my credit card purchases. But I don’t know how much they pocket on each double cash transaction. It may be less than 2%, so I would be a net loser to them, but it may be slightly more. Hard to say. Credit card fees and percentages paid by businesses are all over the map. Thanks for reminding me to look at the big picture. I might keep using them knowing that I am overall extremely unprofitable for them.

So of course saying that they’re no different than anyone else is considered to be a bigoted insult.
