The 2022 election politics

I dont understand - this tenuous 50-50 split in the Senate has held thusfar. Why would any Republican, no matter what you think about the person, intentionally alienate someone who could easily flip?

The idiot Alaska voters set up a system custom-made to get Murk elected. From Ballotpedia

  • In 2020, Alaska voters approved a ballot initiative establishing a top-four primary for state executive, state legislative, and congressional elections. The initiative also established ranked-choice voting for general elections for the aforementioned offices and the presidency.

  • Under Alaska’s top-four primary system, all candidates for a given office run in a single primary election. The top four vote-getters, regardless of partisan affiliation, then advance to the general election.

  • In general elections, voters rank the four candidates that advanced from the primaries. A candidate needs a simple majority of the vote (50 percent + 1) to be declared the winner of an election. If no candidate wins a simple majority of votes cast, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated from the running. Voters who selected that candidate as their first choice have their votes redistributed to their second choices. The tabulation process continues in rounds until a candidate receives a simple majority.

Thanks excellent post. I forgot about that.

Hopeless situation.

Alaska elections are FUBAR.

Rasmussen latest election issues - voters polled vs articles in the legacy media. Zero overlap in the topic media topics with what people care about.

It is essential legacy media perfidy never be overlooked or minimized. Their sole aim is obliteration of traditional America. And they pursue “job one” with relentless, visceral hate.

I’m so glad to see you come across this thread by Megan Fox independently from me posting it. That means that her reporting is getting some legs, even if it’s just other conservatives.

When I first saw progressives pushing this 10 year old rape victim story on twitter, I knew I just had to go a few clicks deeper because it seemed too perfect. I’m not saying I put Megan Fox onto this with some of my twitter comments (because clearly any pro-life conservative seeing this story had the same thoughts independently), but I did tweet about how overly convenient it looked and how the reporters didn’t include anything in the article that led me to believe they put any effort into confirming the 10 year old pregnant rape victim from Ohio actually existed. Megan liked my tweet right around the time she started posting about it.

Megan’s first tweet on this was a few hours later (she had clearly been working on it a few hours at this point):

Presenting it as fact is shameful. But I can understand the hypothetical scenario being argued. The real problem is how this hypothetical pregnant 10 year old rape victim is somehow being used to somehow show that it’s an injustice to deny the 20-something who chose to have a little too much fun last month an abortion too. Because despite the sad, tragic anecdotes, we all know most abortions are the later, not the former.

Are you sure. I was talking to Alvin the Chipmunk Sharpton and he swore up and down that the 10 year old who he identified as Tawyana Brawley was raped by a bunch of white cops, white prosecutors and white Jews. He was pretty convincing.

ETA: Sorry, this was 20 or 30 years ago, after Roe vs. Wade but not anywhere near the recent SCOTUS decision. Maybe Rev Al was ahead of his wallet time. Regardless, never mind.

no doubt the school board will continue to stonewall but it will keep this in the news may affect the 2022 election

Representatives for Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) appeared in court Monday in hopes to halt Virginia Attorney General Jason Miyares’ grand jury investigation into the school district.

At 1:14 p.m., 7News reporter Nick Minock tweeted that the motion for an injunction failed. Miyares’ special grand jury will continue.

on California LA county DA Gascon recall. IMO this could have an effect on the LA mayor race

Gascon Recall Effort Takes Big Step Forward in Los Angeles

On Thursday, the Recall Gascon team delivered 715,833 signatures of Angelenos to the Los Angeles County registrar-recorder, far exceeding the 566,000 signatures needed to put Gascon on the ballot this fall for a recall election.

On Saturday, Dean Logan, the controversial registrar-recorder, issued a press release confirming that their raw count of signatures submitted was 715,833. Logan’s office has until Aug. 17 to conduct a complete review and verification of the signatures in order to certify the recall.

If those signatures are officially verified and over the threshold amount, Gascon could be on the ballot for recall as early as November. If more than 50% of voters vote to recall Gascon, he will be removed from office, and a successor will be elected.

Maybe it was real after all? They arrested some illegal alien for the rape.

I guess if they release him without bail after his confession and he mysteriously disappears, you can question whether it was all a setup, or just an unfortunate criminal situation.

Hmmmm. That would explain the earlier lack of full disclosure.

As all know, illegals never do anything wrong . . . especially not something this egregious!!

Ugh, that’s terrible that this story was real.

I’ll admit, part of me was hoping it wasn’t true because I wanted the pro-aborts that made it into a story to be seen as liars, but mostly I just hoped it wasn’t true because you hate for stories like this to be true. Of course I know that kids are sexually assaulted, so thinking this one report wasn’t real doesn’t mean it doesn’t actually happen. But it’s a kick in the gut to hear that this specific one did actually happen, that she was impregnated, and did have to go through a medical abortion. Very sad.

Also, pretty sad it took 3 weeks to arrest the guy when the 10 year old girl told police he was the one that did it. It’s not like they needed to wait on a DNA test. Unless they had spent the last 3 weeks searching for him, what they heck was the delay? The one time I handled an underage rape case as a police officer, I had the suspect arrested and charged with rape in the same shift I took the report and got detectives involved. Coincidentally (or not), that was also an illegal immigrant.

This is more a cultural issue, IMO. Family members protecting other relatives or friends, out of shame, fear and/or community pressure.

Remember what I wrote months ago regarding the dark reality of many people who emigrate to this country after spending their formative years somewhere else.

They werent searching for him, they were searching for someone to be him…

In 2020, there were 52 abortions in children 15 or younger in Ohio, accounting for 0.3% of the 20,605 abortions performed that year, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

This is the main takeaway - 52 cases does not provide justification for the other 20,000 being allowed. If we were worried about those 52, there’d be pressure to carve out an exception, not vague outrage over “reproductive rights” for everyone.

Did Roman Polanski sneak back into the country?

ETA: To make it germane to the topic, is he running for DA in LA, SF, or Chicago?

Republicans are being too confident about their chances in 2022. This article is by Mollie Hemingway who is an expert on election cheating

When President Biden ordered all 600 federal agenciesto “expand citizens’ opportunities to register to vote and to obtain information about, and participate in, the electoral process” on March 7, 2021, Republican politicians, Constitutional scholars, and election integrity specialists began to worry exactly what was up his sleeve.

Biden gave each agency 200 days to file their plans for approval by none other than Susan Rice, his hyperpartisan domestic policy advisor. Yet fully nine months after those plans were due, they are all being hidden from the public, even as evidence is emerging that the election operation is in full swing.

As with previous efforts to destabilize elections, the chaos and confusion that would occur are part of the plan. The Executive Order copied much of a white paper put out by left-wing dark money group Demos, which advocates for left-wing changes to the countryand which brags on its website that it moves “bold progressive ideas from cutting-edge concept to practical reality.” Not coincidentally, Biden put former Demos President K. Sabeel Rahman and former Demos Legal Strategies Director Chiraag Bains in key White House posts to oversee election-related initiatives.

I agree. Going all the way back to our loss in Viet Nam, freedom loving Americans (i.e., Republicans) have underestimated Marxist/socialist fervor. And of course in Viet Nam our opponents were fully fledged communists . . . same idea. But those people will do whatever it takes to win; and the rules be damned.

I guess our side wonders how people can be stupid enough not to value freedom and liberty as much as we do. Sadly, too many of our fellow human beings are all too willing to surrender their freedom and liberty for (what they perceive as) enhanced security. So they sign up with the merchants of death. That sadly is their version of human nature. I don’t know how to counteract it. You cannot teach calculus to a cat.

Trump is running in 2024!

(we don’t have a thread for 2024 so I am posting here)

And this does touch the 2022 election in that Trump (so far) refuses to disclose whether he will make his formal announcement before or after November eighth.

I hope it’s after.
