New polls suggest that Trump is eating into Biden’s lead among Latino voters. A survey conducted for UnidosUS and Mi Familia Vota showed Biden leading by 18 points among Latino voters. That margin shows considerable slippage since the 2020 election, when Biden won the Latino vote by 33 points, according to exit polls.
Rep. Dean Phillips, a Minnesota Democrat who is challenging Biden for the party’s presidential nomination, said he has made two trips to the border and found it to be “an unmitigated, embarrassing, inexcusable disaster.”
I have stated here before that the open borders policy is very logical for the Democrats. They are importing future voters. The article says that the Democrats only lead by 18% among Hispanic voters. OK that’s down from 30% but the Democrats will take that with millions of voters.
Across news sites, Democrats are warning of the imminent death of democracy. Hillary Clinton has warned that a Trump victory would be the end of democracy. MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow is warning of “executions.” Even actors like Robert DeNiro are predicting that this may be our very last democratic election.
Yet these harbingers of tyranny are increasingly pursuing the very course that will make their predictions come true. The Democratic Party is actively seeking to deny voters choices in this election, supposedly to save democracy.
Ignoring how they’re preemptively attempting to do this with the primaries, the whole “electing Trump will end Democracy” thing couldnt ring truer. Not because of Trump himself, but - much like throughout his first term - due to the Democrat’s tantrums over reactions to him being in charge. Unlike Trump, who held that Biden’s victory was the result of improper voting (which is still a valid reason to object, with the only question being if it is true), Democrats will fully accept that Trump won but only due to the stupidity of his followers who deserve to have the legit result of their entirely proper votes simply ignored (which is a reaction with absolutely no valid foundation).
We’ve already experimented with the end of Democracy his first term, as more and more stories came out about “loyal lifelong civil servants” within the government doing what they “knew” was right rather than following proper instructions and orders from the administration. I wouldnt expect anything different during a second term.
And you’d be a fool to think this. He already has plans to replace everyone at every level wherever possible with loyalists. Even his own supporters on this site mentioned that he made lots of mistakes during his term, and one of the biggest was not replacing career government workers with his own people.
??? Have you ever tried to replace a civil service worker? If Ted Kaczynski were slightly less nutty, he could have one with practically no fear of losing it. If you’re thinking of higher level people, then yes, he can replace them. However, he would have a hard time replacing Lois Lerner level Democrats.
ETA: If you were making a joke, it went right over my head … again.
And after about 5 minutes of that, all the headlines and protests will be about how he’s destroying democracy by making it all about him, completely ignoring the fact he’s merely trying to fill positions with people who will get with the program rather than fight him every step (ok, they dont even bother fighting, they simply ignore the program and do what they want instead).
And half the country will cheer the obstructionists, because Democracy be damned, they know how it should be regardless of those silly election results. That is the dictionary definition of a threat to our democracy. Not a duely elected leader trying to do exactly what he promised to do if elected.
I know that impeachment is a recent fad, so the answer is obviously no. But I still need to ask - has there ever been 2 separate impeachments of two separate Presidents over the same issue? Trump was impeached for looking for evidence of corruption, and now Biden potentially will be impeached for that same corruption Trump had been trying to secure evidence of…
Kind of funny how Newsweek tried to play this off as a low class joke by repeatedly higlighting “Walmart”.
Kirschner, a staunch Trump critic who is also legal analyst for MSNBC, said that there has been an imbalance in how the former president has been treated compared to others in the criminal justice system.
“I think our inability to sort of hold accountable, what I call ruling class criminals, high government officials who obviously broke the law, and hold them accountable the way we would hold anybody else accountable,” Kirschner said via phone to Newsweek. “We just, we can’t do it. We either can’t or won’t do it. And that will be our downfall. The rule of law will be our downfall.”
Funny thing is, I’m pretty sure 100% of the nation agrees with that sentiment. There’s only disagreement over the direction it should be sent.
Yes, calling someone a name is clear evidence that person is in danger. That isnt the lede, that’s an example of the more general statement I did quote.
It doesn’t matter who says it, it’s a name not a threat. The only danger is that it’ll prompt suicidal thoughts because of the depression caused by having his feelings hurt from being called a not-nice name.
Saying that name calling is a danger to you is effectively validating that you are in fact “deranged”.
she said she “will never vote for Donald Trump” and “will do whatever it takes to make sure that Donald Trump is defeated in 2024.”
That’s not exactly being a proponent of Democracy, now is it… Some would claim those words are a direct threat to our democracy (at least they would had such words come out of Trump’s mouth).
It looks like the only thing saving us in California is that Newsom is running for president. Absent that, the crazed Democrats in the legislature would be pushing through massive income tax increases, including a wealth tax.
When Newsom and legislators finalized a 2023-24 budget in June, they knew that revenue estimates were shaky due to the postponed filing deadline, but assumed that they had a $30 billion-plus gap to bridge. They now know that the hole was much larger. As Newsom finalizes his proposed 2024-25 budget to be unveiled in January, it must account for the current shortfall plus one of similar proportions for the next fiscal year.
Automatic spending reductions triggered by a slowing economy, such as lower mandatory levels of K-12 education support, would — on paper at least — cover some of the gap. But they do little to solve the political dilemma confronting Newsom and legislators as they face pressure to maintain school spending and billions of dollars in other commitments made when the state treasury seemed to be overflowing.
