The 2024 election politics

How? Legal immigrants represent our blood. Illegals are the poison.

There is tons of blurring happening, but its not on Trump’s end.

Source?

Really? What kind of source could there possibly be? You try way too hard. As I said, the only blurring is what’s being done intentionally to manufacture faux controversy. Generic defiance isn’t going to change that any.

Predictable outcome.

You said “legal immigrants represent our blood,” but I’ve never heard that and it doesn’t make sense from context. I interpreted “blood” to mean everyone who lives here legally (plus all citizens who live elsewhere, as they too represent the country and have all the same rights), not just legal immigrants. So I’m asking how you came up with that explanation.

Exactly. Sounds like you really do understand the comment, and you’re just claiming there is blurriness to manufacture a knock against Trump.

(And just to indulge you, my reply was about the difference between legal and illegal, not immigrants and non-immigrants. Context matters.)

One Pizza Hut delivery driver told Business Insider that he was offered a $400 severance if he stuck around through his February 5 layoff date.

“The money they are giving us as severance pay is a slap on the face,” he told Insider. “It comes to $3 a month for nine-plus years of service.”

Good grief. What’s the old saying - if you give an inch, they’ll expect a mile.

Is this $20/hr really just for fast food workers?

I’m not worried about me, though. I am worried about a small, but loud and violent subset of his target audience and base – white nationalists and nazis. To them it’s a dog whistle, music to their ears. They won’t think that “blood” is everyone, they’ll think it only represents THEM and people like them, while everyone else had better gtfo.

There’s also an increase for healthcare workers to $25 per hour minimum wage. In California, the government pays for about 75% of medical care so that increased spending along with high income taxpayers leaving tbe state is part of the reason for the state’s huge budget deficits. See my next post.

The chickens come home to roost for California Democrats

Newsom’s first term in office was buoyed by record-smashing surpluses of more than $100 billion in some years. The money allowed him and his Democratic allies in the state Legislature to greatly expand government, including paying for guaranteed health insurance for all low-income adults regardless of their immigration status and free lunches for all public school students.

Now in his second term, growing budget deficits could threaten some of Newsom’s accomplishments at a time when he is building his national profile that could lead to a run for president beyond 2024. The Legislative Analyst Office says their projections, from 2022-2023 through 2027-2028, show a cumulative deficit of $155 billion.

Still, even in the face of deficits, Newsom and the state Legislature last year gave a lucrative tax break to the state’s film and television industry while also agreeing to gradually raise the minimum wage for health care workers to $25 per hour. That wage increase will cost the state about $20 billion this year in increased labor costs and Medicaid payments to hospitals.

So you have a problem with “white nationalists and nazis”. That’s fine (and understandable). But rather than expressing that problem, it instead gets spun into another baseless knock against Trump. Your initial comment about blurring lines wasn’t about the reaction of white nationalist nazis, you were clearly making Trump out to be the white nationalist Nazi.

Democracy thwarted, the CO edition

This is the smarter play. Let him be on the ballot, then after the election declare him ineligible and retroactively invalidate any votes cast for him. He’s out either way, plus you get to prevent those pesky opposing votes from being tabulated against you.

I say this jokingly, but it’s not exactly out of the rhelm of possibilities either - when are we going to start seeing the hit pieces baseless speculation opinion columns where various crusaders for Democracy call for anyone voting for Trump to be arrested for ‘participating in an insurrection’?

The DOJ decided to not try disgraced crypto icon SBF with additional crimes in a second trial.

seven guilty verdicts. Those included two counts of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, two counts of wire fraud, conspiracy to commit commodities fraud, conspiracy to commit securities fraud, and conspiracy to commit money laundering. Together they carry a combined maximum sentence of 110 years.

So far so good, but what about…

forgoing an additional trial means not holding SBF accountable for conspiracy to make unlawful campaign contributions

It would be terrible to name names and find out which democrats got 99% of the tens of millions in political donations he funded with stolen money (maybe even to the DOJ officials?). Some of them might even feel shamed into returning it to the bankrupt estate of FTX where customers are missing at least 1/3 of their money. And that would be a tragedy to be avoided at all costs.

The SBF donation list is going to be a closely guarded secret, comparable to the passenger list on the Epstein Lolita express. I hope, for his sake, that SBF’s parents have enough clout to keep him from being Epsteined in prison.

The illegal political contribution charges couldn’t be prosecuted without the consent of the Bahamian government, due to conditions of the extradition agreement. The Bahamas didn’t give the required consent.

Source?

On the face of it, this does not make sense since it is United States campaign finance law that is alleged to be broken.
