But these normal changeover months are especially dangerous when a perceived weak or appeasing lame-duck president is likely to be replaced by a strong deterrent successor that will likely serve as a corrective to his disastrous policies.
We are now once again entering one of these dangerous moments, compounded by a weakening of the armed forces. During Biden’s tenure, the U.S. military has suffered historic shortfalls in recruitment, the disastrous humiliation in Afghanistan, a new DEI commissariat that wars on meritocratic promotions and assignments, the politicization of generals and admirals, the hyped but otherwise inane effort to root out mythical white supremacists and “domestic terrorist” bogeymen from the ranks, and the expulsion of some of our best soldiers for their reluctance to be vaccinated, many of them having developed natural immunity from prior infection.
According to your fear, maybe. To others, the Jan 6 response was exactly what y’all demanded was the appropriate response after Trump so heinously defended a Federal courthouse from violent rioters earlier. The only tangible difference being who was doing the rioting.
That just sounds like you’re making excuses. It’s not even close to circumstantial. Both just happened to be in his interest – to act like a defender in the first case, and to wait and see what happens in the second. And I think the two had absolutely nothing to do with each other.
Sounds like consequences to me. I said as it was happening that he was probably sitting in the White House laughing his ass off at the irony. Sure, he could’ve been the bigger man and ignored the petty politics, but he only reacted as you adamently demanded he should react when you had been on the other side of the equation. I believe the cool kids call it “malicious compliance”.
Of course you think the two had nothing to do with each other, because thinking otherwise only highlights the hypocrisy in your expectations.
You’re alleging that you know what he was thinking, which is he shouldn’t react at all because of the criticism he received for that Federal courthouse response. But how do you know what he was thinking? From what I’ve read, he was just watching violence unfold on TV and ignoring everyone in his circle who told him to tell those rioters to go home.
I disagree. It doesn’t actually matter what he was or wasn’t thinking – the fact that he did not take any action is sufficient evidence that there is a mugger hiding who will club you with a bat. Taking no action for a short period of time could perhaps be excused due to past criticism for acting against rioters. But as events unfolded and the situation changed (and we all know that he was perfectly aware of the situation), taking no action became criminal malice.
And was allowed even when cops were assaulted and federal buildings invaded for political reasons. But it was pro Palestinian leftists who I can bet won’t be languishing in DC jails years later…
A Biden adviser told Axios the White House is very concerned about losing young voters, many of whom are opposed to the president’s policy on the Gaza war.
A source close to the White House said Biden can’t have the war and the growing death toll to continue dominating the news cycle as the elections get closer.
Occasionally Democratic pundits will play dumb about the political impact of their demographic change via immigration, suggesting that no one knows which way immigrants and their descendants will vote in the future. In truth, though, there is plenty of empirical data
The truth is that, along with letting them in, they’re also being fed the story that “those other guys are evil and want you to die, we’re the only ones who want you to be here and care about your wellbeing”. THAT is what nets them democratic voters for life, not some regional proclivity to lean left. It’s the fear that if someone else takes control they’ll be unceremoniously given the boot.
EDIT: Apparently my delayed posting of this happened after the quoted text had been removed. Just in case anyone is confused by where this quote came from.
Don’t know about “die”, but they certainly don’t want you here, and they won’t allocate money to support you, and they’ll try to shut down the government so you can’t get the services you may need.
So I can come over to your house, climb in through a window, throw a pillow and blanket in your den/spare bedroom, and start chilling on the sofa with your family? And tell you it’s ok because I’ll probably do my share of the dishes and sweeping the floor occasionally? You’ll welcome me with open arms and endless patience? You’ll happily buy me food and give me rides to the doctor (and pay the doctor bill)? Never once rue the day I showed up unannounced and uninvited, or wish for my eviction from your home?
And this is what you wrote in reply to my response:
You didn’t qualify legal or illegal immigrants. Are we talking about legal immigrants? Legal immigrants won’t come over to your house without an invitation. I suspect illegal immigrants won’t either, since they probably don’t want to get in trouble with the law, but I won’t argue on this point.
What else could you possible think, given the context?
Besides, it doesnt really matter - when told to illegal immigrants it’s because they’re, ya’ know, illegal, and when told to legal immigrants it’s simply made up fear mongering based on dropping the legal/illegal qualifier and talking about all immigrants.
It’s a metaphor, for christ’s sake. They already have done exactly that, by virtue of being here illegally and having public resources diverted to their benefit.
I know you can keep up, no matter how hard you try to pretend you cant…
