The 2024 election politics

I don’t think they would have been subjugated by their neighbor if their neighbor weren’t subjugated them to bombings, rockets, and suicide bombers. If you were subjugated to such events, I’m sure you would respond by either moving or attempting to subjugate the bombers in such a way that they would stop subjugating you to bombings.

The blockade in 2005 and 2006 was temporary. As well, Israel did not blockade the trade routes into Egypt. Additionally, the permanent blockade in 2007 was not created until after Gaza residents voted a terrorist group into power. I suspect you might understand their logic for it. However, once again, Israel did not touch the routes from Gaza into Egypt. Surprisingly, Egypt, who was not being bombed by Gazans, erected their own temporary and permanent blockades.

Oh, wait! Are you saying that if we stop illegal immigrants from crossing into the U.S., almost every country south of us will elect terrorists? :grimacing:

Ms. VP Harris says she won’t take your guns … just invade your home and look at them …

“We’re going to require responsible behaviors among everybody in the community, and just because you legally possess a gun in the sanctity of your locked home doesn’t mean that we’re not going to walk into that home and check to see if you’re being responsible and safe in the way you conduct your affairs,” Harris told a group of reporters in May 2007.

Don’t the police need a warrant to enter and check inside people’s homes?

Laws are for little people. They’ll use one of those red flag laws to have someone anonymously call in that you’re a threat to yourself or someone else and then get a court order to seize your guns. 95%+ of such petitions are approved by the courts.

The IRS union knows which side their bread is buttered on. They’re endorsing Kamala, for getting them their big spending hike (80k new agents to audit the middle class and her political opponents), as well as enforcing all those new tax laws for her ambitious and under funded spending plans.

Harris-proposed tax increases will kill jobs in the private sector but create jobs for IRS agents.

“Agents certainly appreciate her call to make the IRS even larger and more powerful if she wins the presidency. Agents will be hired and deployed to implement the $5 trillion of tax increases Harris wishes to impose over the next decade.”

ATR research also found that 97% of political contributions by the IRS agents’ union went to Democrats in the 2022 election cycle

You know how border czar Harris did nothing for the border? Turns out she was also in charge of spending over $40b to get rural America connected to high speed Internet. Guess how that’s going - billions spent, not a single home or biz connected, but lots of Climate Justice initiatives and Diversity requirements.

Some testimony below, esp the bottom one

Elon Musk had a contract for his satellite Internet to do some of this, but once he started campaigning for American and not Biden/Harris, they started extra lawsuits against him and pulled his contract. They’re planning to spend up to 100x as much to do the connectivity themselves, but of course haven’t even done it at all.

Unless you make knowledge of a gun on the premises exigent circumstances. You know, to ensure that it’s being handled responsibly and stored safely.

Sure, an eye for an eye until everyone is blind. The blockade did not achieve its goals, which was to prevent the flow of weapons into Gaza. The conflicts just keep escalating. Clearly whatever Israel has been doing is not working.

They say insanity is expecting something different when the circumstances are the same. The Middle East has been at war for 2000 years, not sure why Israel should be nicer as if the Oct 7th murders wouldn’t have happened, or Hezbollah wouldn’t have displaced nearly 100k of their population in the north with ongoing rocket attacks. Too bad pagers these days are so small, hard to fit in enough explosives discreetly to finish the job. Not so with the fighter jet missiles this weekend -

On the bright side, they killed the most recent head of Hezbollah (a high turnover position), who among other things had a large bounty on his head from the U.S. for the attack on our embassy in Beirut decades ago that killed a bunch of our people. I wonder if the current administration will even pay out given their progressive sympathies.

Agreed. Trying to negotiate with governments like those of Gaza or Lebanon or Iran that explicitly call for your extermination is a pipe dream. Israel is at war, whether they want to admit it or not, and with the wake up call a year ago, now they’re (more) willing to admit it. If you want peace in these circumstances, the crusades have the answer for you -

Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius.

I wasn’t suggesting this. I don’t have the slightest problem with Israel defending itself. I do have a problem with a few things that are clearly wrong by international standards, specifically building and growing settlements in West Bank and harassing the Palestinians who live there.

Islamic terrorists are at war with MOST of their neighbors and within themselves, too (Sunnis vs Shias, etc). Kudos to Israel.

So they can try other things, possibly blowing up the tunnels into Egypt. That should help reduce the flow of weapons. Letting up would be a sign of weakness. Signs of weakness encourage more bombs.

Oh, and none of the current activity in Gaza would be happening if not for the slaughter of Oct 7, or if Hamas had given up their hostages instead of torturing, raping, and killing them.

Up to the point that “Oh joy” implements her stated plans.

Good news for Trump in the crucial swing state of Michigan

Ghalib was one of the leaders of the effort to get Muslim Democrats to vote “Uncommitted” against Biden earlier this year in the Democrat primary in Michigan, and then that movement transformed first into the “Abandon Biden” effort in the general election and has now become the “Abandon Harris” movement.

Ghalib appeared on Breitbart News Saturday on SiriusXM 125 the Patriot Channel, and spoke very highly of Trump while not yet endorsing him. Ghalib told Breitbart News that he and Trump had a “very productive meeting” last week in Flint, and about how Trump does not want new wars if and when he is elected president again.

“I talked to President Trump about, you know, some statistics here in Wayne County and how it used to be a stronghold for the Democrats, and we always used to vote Democrat,” Ghalib said. “This is not the case anymore here.”

Then, Sunday afternoon as Trump was speaking with Breitbart News, Ghalib formally endorsed Trump for president — marking a monumental shift among Arab voters against Democrats and toward Trump Republicans. Trump highlighted the endorsement on his Truth Social account:

Tunnels can be rebuilt. I don’t think it’s the first time they’ve tried to destroy them.

They had a settlement in Gaza that they withdrew in ~2007. Doing the right thing would score lots of karma points. They’re being criticized left and right for the settlements by other Western countries and international organizations. And it gives Hamas a pretty good excuse, probably the best one.

No doubt.

The dunk you make on Twitter isn’t going to make Trump lose. The nasty comment you leave isn’t going to make Trump win. You can unskew the polls, but usually, you’re only fooling yourself. So lead your best life, and have the serenity to accept the things you cannot change.

I believe in karma, but only because I’m naïve by nature.

On a more serious note, when I’ve done good things for people who wish me ill, very rarely have they had a change of heart or reciprocated my goodwill. To the contrary. They’ve seen it as a sign that they’re entitled to more from me, or that I’m easy to take advantage of.

In this case it’s not about doing good things for other people – it’s about no longer doing bad things.

I follow the Golden Rule - Do unto others as you would have done unto you, or in other words, treat others how you wish to be treated.

So however others treat me, I assume that is how they want me to treat them in return. If someone tries to take advantage of me, I take that to mean they want me to try to take advantage of them as well… And I’m generally much better at it  .

But the Golden Rule does not say to treat others the same way they treat you. It states treat others how you wish to be treated. So if you treat them how they treat you both positively and negatively, then you don’t follow the Golden Rule for your own actions.
