The 2024 election politics

So what? The Atmosphere does not care where the carbon dioxide comes from and who emitted it. If China, with three times the population of the United States emits twice as much carbon dioxide, that’s still twice as much.

China, India, Indonesia, etc. are sovereign countries. If they do not want to buy into the collective craziness of the climatistas in the rich western countries and would rather provide a better life for their people, more power to them. Pun intended.

China has four times the population of the US. The emissions are twice as much total, or half as much per-person. Since there’s an apparent economic disadvantage to reducing emissions, we can’t convince them to do it as a country if we ourselves can’t lead by example.

Religion requires blind faith with no proof or evidence. There’s too much scientific evidence for climate change to call it faith or religion. But I would be willing to call it a religion if you’d consider its followers to be acting on faith. I suspect you might try to twist this and call them fanatics or zealots, to which I’d say you must admit that it’s not a minor religion, and most of its adherents are no more fanatical or zealous than most adherents of any other major religion. The people trying to stop the trucks in the middle of the road are clearly fanatics, but, like you said, they’re acting on faith.

Our disagreement on that subject has nothing to do with individual responsibility. A woman trying to get an abortion is doing exactly what individual responsibility warrants – taking care of herself, often eliminating the social burden of supporting her and her offspring.

While you don’t sound quite to the level of President Joseph Robinette Biden’s press secretary, like most of her comments, I can’t make sense of what you’re saying. Do you think climate change is a religion?

Tell that to the millions of people who are responsible and don’t get pregnant put babies in buckets or sell their body parts. :frowning:

I’ll say yes if that will make you feel better.

China is going to pursue their economic and military interest regardless of the virtue signaling by the United States.

Edit. Same with India and Indonesia, and other developing countries.

Global coal consumption climbed to a new all-time high in 2022 and will stay near that record level this year as strong growth in Asia for both power generation and industrial applications outpaces declines in the United States and Europe, according to the IEA’s latest market update.

That’s just, like, your opinion, man. You’re a pessimist. International pressure works.

Well, sadly it doesn’t. Just look at history for what international pressure can accomplish.

Sure is doing wonders with Russia right now…

It thrills me to no end. There isn’t much fun in fence sitting. Now, let’s talk about separation of church and state …

Of course it does. Look how well it’s prevented Iran from enriching uranium. Oh, that’s with pallets of cash on top of the international pressure.

LOL. Church is also funded by the state (via tax deductions)! :joy:

But without the need of mandates … except in CA. Since Gene Scott is gone, I guess they have to pray to the church of WOKE. :frowning:

You are smart enough to understand that you need to already have the funding before there can be tax deductions.

I might as well claim that your entire life is funded by the state, because the state has generously decided to only tax your income X% instead of taking 100%. You leech!

Fine – subsidized.

That’s definitely true when X=0. Those who pay more or benefit less subsidize those who pay less or benefit more.

A church, or any nonprofit, is merely a group of individuals who have paid more.

Glad to see you accept the notion of the wealthy “not paying their fair share” is a farce, since one wealthy person’s hundreds of thousands of taxes already subsidizes hundreds, if not thousands, of individuals who pay little-to-nothing in taxes.
