The 2022 election politics

Can California avoid the fish tank today?

She is Chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus. Her name is Karen Bass. Her politics?:

To the left of Noam Chomsky!

She is running in the Democrat primary today for Mayor of Los Angeles. There is no question, of course, that if she wins today’s primary she will become the next LA mayor. That is a certainty.

On a personal note:

I’m rooting for a Bass victory today. Why?

  • The fools who inhabit LA richly deserve the additional heartbreak this woman will bring.

  • A victory today will get this babe the hell out of Congress, where she can do damage to the entire country

hope springs eternal for us California conservatives. Consigning us to the inner ring of hell is not very neighborly😳

California is so big there are a huge number of Republicans here. In the 2018 governor elections the losing (by a blowout) Republican John Cox got 4.74 million votes while the winner in Texas, Greg Abbot got 4.65 million votes.

Sure. If you travel anywhere in the state, within fifty miles of your very long eastern border, you cannot cast a spitball without hitting a Republican!

But statewide, “California Republican” is scarcely more than an oxymoron. And the smart ones, fleeing rampant socialism and “wokism”, have already left.

Looks to me as if Bass will be the next LA mayor after the outcome in November.

Angelenos want Caruso like New Yorkers wanted Curtis!

Good

Rely on liberals always to reject the better option.

I dunno. According to USAtoday

As of 10 p.m. PDT, Caruso held a 3-point lead over Bass, a win in itself against an established Los Angeles politician who was on President Joe Biden’s short list for vice president.

True

But meaningless when the two-way contest arrives in November!

Why? Here is why:

Yesterday’s race was a three-way (actually a multi-way) race. There was a third participant named Kevin De Leon who garnered seven percent of the vote. De Leon is a FAR left guy whose votes, come November, can be expected to go to Bass.

I don’t have any insight on the other participants after those three. However this is Los Angeles. They most likely are also very left leaning.

In November the leftie vote is gonna go to Bass. There is more than enough to make her the next Los Angeles mayor. :grinning:

Which is great since this means she will no longer be serving in Congress!! What’s bad for Los Angeles is wonderful for the United States of America!!

Except that having lost the primary, Bass wont be one of those two candidates in November…

You would think so, wouldn’t you?

But remember, we are talking about California where they always have a better way. :stuck_out_tongue:

In California, if no candidate receives 50% of the vote plus one vote, there is a November runoff between the two top vote getters. In this case it’s Caruso and Bass. But here is the kicker:

Caruso only received 3% more votes than Bass yesterday. And neither (obviously) hit the 50% threshold. It’s the votes which previously went to those “also ran” candidates, including far leftie De Leon at 7%, who will put Bass over the top in November.

Never forget California has one-party rule. You know; sort of like in Red China. So it’s not Republican vs. Democrat in November, like you were thinking and like it should be. It’s instead Democrat vs. Democrat. In California, Republicans need not apply.

it’s hard to draw any conclusions with the turnout so low: 16%

It’s instead Democrat vs. Democrat. In California, Republicans need not apply.

actually not true. almost all the statewide races will have Republican opponents.

The governors race will have a republican, Brian Dahle.

The two Senate races will have a republican: Meuser

in the lieutenant governor, the Republican Jacobs will be on the ballot

The Republican Bernosky will be in the Secretary of State ballot.

The Republican Hochman will be in the Attorney General ballot.

A republican, Lanhee Chen, actually leads in the controller race.

Perhaps not technically true. But realistically, how many of those Republicans you listed have any chance whatsoever of victory in November over their Democrat opponent?

The once great state of California, to its everlasting credit, elected Ronald Reagan Governor twice!! And the people of California, later, even elevated Pete Wilson to their state’s highest office.

But more recently California has turned left with vigor. And that, in my view, even includes Arnold.

Bottom line, it’s a sad state of affairs in California today.

I think Lanhee Chen has a chance. He was the top vote getter against Democrats in the primary. But I agree the chances of the others are very slim.

I like it here so I’m not going to allow myself to be pushed out without a fight. The CAGOP is pretty useless but Carl DeMaio‘s reformCalifornia.org is doing a good job. In the primary, they distributed a voter guide that allowed Republicans to concentrate their vote on candidates that have a chance. They also organize volunteers to support candidates and to be poll watchers. They organize beer pizza and votes ballot harvesting get-togethers for conservatives,

California could have national implications for the control of the House of representatives. Currently Repugblicans only hold 43 of 51 seats. I think there’s a chance to increase that.

Sarah is currently running #1 in the Alaska House race voting results. There are four slots available. The August general election winner will be chosen from among the candidates occupying those four ballot slots.

It seems to me that the corrupt Alaska GOP deliberately set up the rules to allow Murk to be voted in by rinos and Democrats. I would not be surprised if there are some shenanigans to try to keep Palin from winning.

BTW I do not know where you got that unflattering image. Here’s what Palin looks like nowadays

Kidding. Right?

kidding?

Nope. Picture seems like a set up by some left-wing media hack. I’m not even sure it’s her in the picture. Palin is a serious person who has served as a mayor and as governor of Alaska.

Here’s an article about the election

Hahahahahahaha

Well, we all know that any site that begins their article with “Beautiful and smart…” is at best a gossip column.

However, to laugh off this article as being fake would also require you to claim that the linked reporting from NBC News and NPR is fake - the entire substance of the article is quotes from those sources. Are you claiming this is the case, that those quotes are not from NBC/NPR? Because if not, this looks like a perfectly legit valid article regardless of where it happened to be published, and the only false and misleading (and baseless) part is the attempt to laugh it off as fake.

LOL, Gateway Pundit - next we’ll have people posting articles from the KKK and Proud Boys and claiming they have accurate reporting, :joy:  LMFAO

You didnt answer the question - are you claiming the quoted reporting from NBC and NPR are fake?
