The 2024 election politics

For those of you in California get your mail ballots in early and then track them. If they do not arrive and get counted a week before the election, get a provisional ballot and vote that. My ballot has been counted

MARCH 5, 2024, PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY

Ballot Accepted

02/12/2024

Your ballot has been accepted! Your ballot was received by your county elections office and counted. Thanks for voting!

So you vote by mail? I didn’t see you refuting xerty’s insinuation that voting by mail leads to fraud. In fact, you -ed that post.

You can use it, yet not agree with it. After all, I’m pretty sure the one vote he knows for certain isnt fraudulant is his own. It’s the doors it opens for votes with questionable provenance that calls the system into question.

And be sure to get your neighbors’, co-workers’, and dead relatives’ ballots in too!

I think the system does lead to fraud, but that does not mean I will not vote since that guarantees the other side wins. The Democrats have cut down on the number of polling places since they know the resultant long lines reduce Republican votes since they tend to vote on election day. I am using the system to get in my vote early in the most reliable way I can find. I am also supporting a ballot initiative to require in-person voting on election day. If that passes, I will gladly vote that way.

Republicans are also harvesting ballots by holding barbecue, beer, and ballots events. They also think that harvesting leads to fraud, but they are not going to unilaterally disarm.

No, especially given the context I included. It’s accepting and living within the current parameters, rather than living in your own made up reality and following rules and parameters that at this point only exist in your own mind.

Manchin throws Biden a bone, won’t run in 2024. His 3rd party run was expected to draw more democrats away from Biden than republicans from Trump.

Manchin said he planned to eventually endorse a candidate for president. He also didn’t rule out leaving the Democratic Party, but said he wants to try to fix it first.

Haley loses funding, may have to continue her attacks on Trump as a non-candidate instead. Losing to “none of the above” and in her home state not the best look, but of course she only ever had a chance if Trump drops dead somehow.

15-20% of MI Democrats vote against Biden in the primary, protesting his stance on Israel. MI has a large Muslim population.

Meanwhile, Trumps approval rating hits recent highs, while Biden’s hits new lows. Both well under 50% mind you.

Trump’s Approval Hits Highest Level Since Mid-2022

Former President Donald Trump’s approval rating has sharply increased to the highest level since Summer 2022, according to RealClearPolitics.

Bloomberg notes: “42% of voters say they have a favorable opinion of Trump, up from an all-time low of 36% in December 2022. He’s now viewed better than Biden, whose poll numbers soared over Trump early in his presidency. Around 40% have a favorable opinion of Biden.”

Team Biden is taking heat from fellow Democrats on the border catastrophe. Abbott and DeSantis’ busing of illegal aliens to democrat cities is working brilliantly

On the same day President Joe Biden announced he’s headed to the southern border this week, the New York City Fire Department discovered 40 West African migrants cramped into a small Queens basement behind a furniture store sleeping in dangerous conditions.

It was the latest troubling scene from a migrant humanitarian crisis that has forced New York City to provide housing and other care for 180,000 asylum seekers who have arrived since the spring of 2022.

Mayor Eric Adams, an outspoken Democratic critic of Biden’s handling of the border crisis, said his administration has worked to find safe shelter for the migrants and prevent tent cities from being erected like elsewhere in the country.
Adams has long insisted the greater focus needs to be “the source of this.”

“We’re going to do our job,” Adams said Tuesday. “But we should be asking the national government: Why is this happening to Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, Houston, Washington?”

Seriously? Obviously it’s because those are the cities who insisted on welcoming those migrants and demanded Federal policy allow for it.

The Fed’s only blame is in not taking care of the problem and saving those cities from themselves.

I am sure this is all just a coincidence

The new law doesn’t recognize places that operate “a bakery that produces for sale on the establishment’s premises bread” as fast food, according to the law’s text.

Why the line was drawn at bread remains unclear.

“That’s part of the sausage-making,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said during a news conference when asked about the exemption, Insider reported.

However, Newsom pushed for the exemption, people familiar with the matter told Bloomberg. One of the primary beneficiaries of the exemption is Greg Flynn, a billionaire and longtime Newsom donor who has two dozen Panera Bread locations in California.

Flynn has also been involved in Newsom’s campaigns, donating $100,000 in 2021 to help Newsom fight against a recall and $64,800 in 2022, which went to the governor’s reelection campaign, according to The Sun.

So do not go to Panera in California. They get the leftover employees who cant land one of the $20/hr jobs.

With Panera, the business manager gets to decide how much to pay his employees, depending on circumstances like the local labor market. With other fast food businesses, the only option is to close the business and that is happening

Too poor to afford healthcare, maybe because you don’t have a job? You’re just the kind of voter the administration wants to register.

Also young college students who don’t think for themselves but are left of Bernie. Their in loco parentis administrators are getting paid to sign them up.

I’m almost getting the feeling that they’re afraid they don’t have enough votes to beat the bad Orange Man. But I guess you don’t put up press releases saying you’re going to drum up the dead folks or harvest the nursing home ballots.

But, I love their :ramen: soups and sandwiches :sandwich:. So good ! And they are so crowded at lunchtime that it’s sometimes difficult to find a seat.
I’m going to think about going across the street to “In & Out” for their delicious hamburgers instead. (at least for a while) What to do?…

Age concerns weigh heavily on 2020 Biden voters for Biden, much moreso than 2020 Trump voters for Trump, and much moreso in recent months.

these are his fans

…fundamental shift in how voters who backed Mr. Biden four years ago have come to see him. A striking 61% said they thought he was “just too old” to be an effective president. 19% of those who voted for Mr. Biden in 2020, and 13% of those who said they would back him in November, said the 81-year-old president’s age was such a problem that he was no longer capable of handling the job.

of all voters polled

73% of all registered voters said he was too old to be effective, and 45% expressed a belief that he could not do the job.

Trump doesn’t have this issue

Republicans’ far greater confidence in their likely nominee, less than 1% of voters who backed Mr. Trump in 2020 said his age made him incapable.

Well, it was a NYT article, so they have to end on a down note for Trump, as best they can:

“Trump, one of the few things I would say good about him, is that nothing seems to bother him. He seems like he’s in the same mental shape he was 10 years ago, 12 years ago, 15 years ago. He’s like a cockroach.”

Supreme Court now the supreme threat to “Our Democracy”, allows Trump to stand for election. 9:0 too

According to the Supreme Court, States may only disqualify officeholders or candidates from state office. This power doesn’t extend to federal elections or officers: “Nothing in the Constitution delegates to the States any power to enforce Section 3 against federal officeholders and candidates.”
