The 2024 election politics

Did you even read what you linked? Just because they’re being targeted by Trump doesn’t make them guilty.

You mean you have no confidence in our Justice system? I mean, if they did nothing criminally wrong, why would they need a pardon?

What do you think of Biden’s unprecedented “any and all crimes during XX period” new blanket pardon? When some MeToo girl comes forward and has proof Hunter raped her, she’s just out of luck and we should be ok with that?

I can’t imagine what Liz Cheney could be guilty of. She simply criticized Trump, something that is protected under law.

Trump and others play right into the fascist stereotype with their nonsense rhetoric. Hence the need for pre-emptive pardon blanket protections.

Pardons should be required to specify the crime being pardoned. The public should know what a person is being forgiven for, even if it means someone needing to confess to a crime they’d thusfar gotten away with. (I cant help but think of Vic Mackey’s immunity deal in The Shield.)

It’d be a pure waste of resources, but is there any merit to prosecuting a person anyways, despite knowing they’ve already been pardoned? I could see Trump doing that, just to prove he was right. There are also quite a few rather vague state laws that are redundant with Federal laws. We may see far more state prosecutions for things that are usually left up to the Feds.

I was just talking to a lawyer yesterday and they agreed that the way to test the constitutionality of this blanket pardon is to have the Trump DOJ prosecute Hunter, for example for his tax fraud (deducting his hookers), take that to the Supreme Court, and get them to rule on the pardon.

But if that’s your plan and you want to actually nail the criminal, you don’t say so until Biden’s out of office lest he go around making tons of specific pardons too.

I have confidence in DOJ now, but I might lose that confidence if it’s placed under an authoritarian leader. Russia also has courts, but LoL.

I think Hunter has done some shit, but we’ll never know what it was.

The President can only pardon federal crimes. I’m not a lawyer, but I would guess something like rape or murder would fall under the jurisdiction of the state where it occurred, and would also have civil liability.

Except for a few crimes, most state laws’ statutes of limitations might be problematic for convicting some of the BCF’s crimes. So far, only the living son of the Big Guy has the pardon, but if others in the schemes are also pardoned, there aren’t going to be to many people left to flip on the senile soon-to-be former President.

I sense a contradiction in the above…

Examples of authoritarianism under the Biden Regime include inventing crimes and persecuting their political opponents, trying to remove their political opponents from the ballot, forcing media companies to censor their political opponents and promote their propaganda, and of course selectively weaponizing federal investigations under the FBI, DOJ, etc, to apply to those supporting their rivals while letting off (Hunter) or giving away millions in settlements (Strozk) to those criminals loyal to the regime.

Biden’s years have been turned the US into a banana republic, Peruvian style. As Generalissimo Biden Benavides said,

“For my friends, everything; for my enemies, the law.”

Aside from the drug crimes, gun crimes, tax crimes, almost certainly statutory rape of numerous young ladies, racketeering, foreign influence peddling, conspiracy, money laundering, we’ll never know.

none of Hunter’s bizarre (and ultimately unsuccessful) criminal defenses made sense unless he felt confident that his father would pardon him in the end. Hunter’s taunting Congress with open contempt of a subpoena and his ridiculous defenses in court were not the actions of someone who feared consequences from these investigations. They were the actions of someone with a pocket pardon.

NBC is reporting that Hunter’s pardon was being discussed in the White House for a long time, even as Biden and his staff were steadfastly denying that he would issue a pardon. As with his years of denying knowledge of Hunter’s business dealings and meeting his clients, Biden simply lied over and over again to the public.

On the potentially brighter side,

Hunter could still be called to testify before Congress or with investigators on the influence-peddling efforts. If he lies, it will be a new crime for which this pardon would not bar prosecution. He would no longer be able to count on a pocket pardon as an insurance policy.

On the Biden Crime Family ™ and their corruption generally,

Short of such continued investigation, the Bidens will have achieved something that would have made John Gotti blush. They were able to pull in millions of alleged influence-peddling proceeds. Hunter was showered with gifts and benefits, from a diamond to a luxury sports car. Various Biden family members reportedly received money from the operation. President Biden was himself accused of knowledge and possible benefits from the influence peddling. He will also be protected by this official act.

A continuing resolution shouldn’t have random crap and policy changes jammed it in. Going from thousand plus pages to hundred plus pages.

Probably a net win.

Unfortunately it will still take a non confidence vote to call an election before October

Trump was officially certified the winner earlier this week, so any liberals claiming otherwise are now “election deniers”. Also, this fun meme:

Meanwhile, in NY, he’s appealing even this “guilt but nothing real” sentencing
