At least in one case, “crime” didn’t pay…
I wonder how many miles they walked back to the airport.

she was definitely in the low risk group. We need pics just to be sure though
No problem:
She looks Canadian, wouldn’t you say? A big favorite, no doubt, in the GTA.
For non-Canadians:
GTA = greater Toronto area
She’s quite The Asset

Probably couldn’t hurt to avoid various painkillers around your vaccine unless you feel really badly.
New York Post – 29 Jan 21

Experts are warning that over-the-counter pain relievers such as Aspirin, Tylenol or ibuprofen could dull the effectiveness of coronavirus vaccines. As the US continues to roll out vaccines from bo…
Guess who’s getting a vaccine before you? The terrorists in Guantanamo.

The Defense Department will offer the coronavirus vaccine to detainees at the Guantanamo Bay facility, a prosecutor involved in the government’s case against five of the prisoners said in a letter …
Gonna go out on a limb and say this might not have been a priority under the previous administration.
Israeli report on PFE vaccine, now that they’ve given it out to lots of people and over 100k have had the second shot also.

Figure represents 0.015 percent of people, indicating vaccine is hitting 95% efficiency rate predicted by clinical trials; top immunologist hails 'exciting results'
Among those one week or more after their second PFE shot, the vaccine appears to be 95% effective compared to the general population, and none of 20 or so the fully vaccinated covid cases required hospitalization.
Good to see it working as advertised and preventing nearly all the serious cases as well after the second shot.

Over the counter drugs could dim COVID-19 vaccine effectiveness
avoid before, but after is Ok as long as you can hold out 6+ hrs to let immune response kick in. I had to take one tylenol over night to sleep (which is also important to immune response)
NVAX results out, 90% efficacy but note that that was an average of 95% against the Wuhan virus and an 85% average against the UK strain. The trial was done in the UK at a time when roughly half had each of those types, so this makes them just as good as the PFE/MRNA ones in my book.

Researchers once believed t would take months or even years for the virus to develop resistance to vaccines. The speedy evolution is largely a result of the virus' unchecked spread.
JNJ vaccine was meaningfully less good, with a 65% or so average and worse against the variants (as expected).

boosters will probably be needed (i hope not). Easy to do w/ mRNA tech.

"Vaccine hunters" stalk a pharmacy or vaccination site for leftovers. Spurred by reports of doses being dumped and feeling antsy for the country's vaccine rollout to pick up the pace, they want to prevent waste -- by getting their shot early.

Of course, this is terrible since they’re using “priviledge” to jump the line ahead of designated priority groups. It’s much, much better to throw doses in the trash to ensure an orderly progressions of vaccinations according to priority.
Seriously, how could anyone possible claim this is bad or somehow unfair? The only goal should be to get everyone vaccinated. “Priority” rankings are merely logistical necessities, not some convoluted measure of fairness.
I agree. We’ve had hundreds of doses wasted here b/c no waitlist system
I’ve been disappointed to hear from a number of young women in my area that they weren’t getting it yet, despite being in the priority group (grocery workers and medical assistants that I’ve spoken to).
Getting vaccinated should have been tied to a “final round” of stimulus money to incentivize it, that carrot should have been coupled with the “stick” of employers somehow being incentivized to mandate vaccination amongst their staff, to push on the issue from both ends.
Getting vaccinated should have been tied to a “final round” of stimulus money to incentivize it
Pretty hard sell to justify that, esp when there’s not even a full FDA approval and a moderate fraction of doctors are still cautious on taking the vaccine esp the mRNA new ones without longer term health and safety data.
For lower risk younger people, the trade off is a lot less clear - unknown long term risks of covid vs unknown long term risks of the vaccine. For old people it’s easy - I don’t want to die and I might not live until the long term anyway.
Just looking at “When will you allow yourself to be vaccinated”?
I’m ready, but where is the vaccine? Seems like the orderly procedure is down the drain…
Bring back Trump.
More of the media class warfare meme. It’s catnip to them. Just like when Steve Jobs got on more than one transplant list because he had a jet. It is privilege, but who says it’s unfair?
As I posted before, mine are keeping waitlists for leftovers, but I’m not sure how they can get someone to come in end of day within an hour that easily, or have the resources to sit around calling and processing in sequence. Probably easier to just take whoever is around.
I do wonder what happens if you get a dose out of sequence. Are you then entitled to the booster 3 weeks later? Or do you have to continue skulking around for another leftover dose of the right type?
I joined the group in the article since I’m local to them.
The fb group is worthless. It’s inundated with out of towers who saw it in the CNN article.
