Study: J&J vaccine effective against Delta variant
A small study just released by Johnson & Johnson is constructive and hopeful regarding effectiveness of their vaccine against the Delta variant of COVID-19. Here is more detail:
The coverage of the variants is going to be better than what people anticipated
There was a lot of misinformation that was spreading, so we decided that we needed to get this into the public domain right away
This part is also noteworthy:
âCurrent data for the eight months studied so far show that the single-shot Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine generates a strong neutralizing antibody response that does not wane; rather, we observe an improvement over timeâ
The CDC says the vaccines are perfectly safe. Theyâve been saying it for months thru statements, press releases, paid commercials, paid endorsements, etc. Thus, why not get a PFE this mont, AZN next month, and J&J in September. Rinse and repeat (in a different order if you want). Youâll be safe - the CDC says so.
Is anyone aware of studies on ⊠resistance to other diseases / allergies. Why do I ask, you say?
I am not allergic/susceptible to Poison Ivy/Oak. I also have been in âextremelyâ close proximity to Covid-19 positive individuals. I have not been infected/affected despite the fact that I am in an extremely higher percentile of âat riskâ comorbidities. (age/weight/looks/lung-function/geniusness).
Most people fully recover, but some have permanent nerve damage, according to the CDC. People older than 50 are at greatest risk.
Officials are expected to emphasize that the Johnson & Johnson vaccine is safe and that its benefits clearly outweigh the potential risks, according to the people familiar with the situation.
Wasnât that what some comedian proposed a few months ago to drum up vaccination rates? LOL
I still donât understand why they want to bother with all the extra efforts to get more people vaccinated. At this point, unless youâve lived under a particularly impervious rock, the information is out, people are aware of what the deal is and have made their decision. Vaccines are available for free everywhere and will continue to be for a while. Seems like a waste of time and money to me to do more than whatâs already been done.
Just let things play out. Itâll self-correct as needed. If it turns out that getting vaccinated was a mistake and vaccinated people die earlier than they would have, well tough. Itâs done already. If it turns out, the unvaccinated die prematurely, well tough. Either way, you make your bed, now lie in it.
Yes keeping the infections going for a while may help create new variants but short of mandating vaccination for all - never gonna happen in the US -, not much any PR campaign will accomplish.
Once approved, colleges could easily add this vaccine to their required vaccination list. Not vaccinated = no college. Should help with the vaccine uptake come fall. High schools could do the same.
*leaving aside exemptions, but these arenât ~half the school population now
Yesterday I got a call from one of my good friends. Actually we play bridge monthly (used to before COVID) and she wanted to know if I wanted to play again. She was calling everyone, but one stipulation, those wishing to play must to have had their COVID vaccination.
Might be happening more than expected around town.
