Who will join POTUS nominee Biden on the Democrat ticket as VP?

She better get her long-form birth certificate and witnesses ready.

Warren willing to play nice, endorses.

Sweet Gretchen Whitmer, Democrat Governor of Michigan, has a nice smile and she fills out a bathing suit rather well. As such, she surely has come to the attention of Mr. Biden as a possible running mate. Today, there is a wrinkle:

Massive protests are roiling Michigan in response to Whitmer’s draconian lockdown of her state.

Naturally the mainstream media will subordinate this to the best of its ability, since a Democrat is being protested. But some things cannot successfully be covered up.

Whitmer already had another problem difficult to conceal: she is white, and everyone knows.

That, combined with these protests, could spell the end of any chance Whitmer might have had to garner a spot on the Democrat ticket. I suspect old Joe must be disappointed. Whitmer would have been a pleasure, for him, to have around.

In any event, these protests only bolster further Amy’s chances. She may be white. But at least thousands of people are not mad as hell at her!

Shin - I’m really starting to enjoy your commentary as your filters slowly fade away. I dare not respond, but it’s an entertaining read.

Thanks. Happy you enjoyed my post. But I was completely serious. I’m confident Biden, save now for these furious protests, would have been delighted to have Whitmer close as possible by his side.

Please do not forget Michigan would be a superb “get” for Biden and his Democrats. And Whitmer, were only her constituents behind her, could be a real help to the campaign. Course when they are protesting as they are, and circulating a petition to have her thrown out of office, Biden most likely is being forced to set aside his undoubtedly warm personal feelings and instead confront harsh political reality.

The fact the Trumpers are protesting her tells me she’s doing the right thing.

Michigan has 4x the rate of coronavirus as neighboring Ohio. Ohio’s governor (a Republican) had put more restrictions in place than Whitmer had.

Ohio’s governor has handled things well. (I did not vote for him, giving credit where it’s due)

. . . . and there are also significant protests in Ohio.

I don’t think the Michigan protests are a positive for Biden or for Whitmer. The Democrat ticket will need every possible Michigan vote. It’s a pivotal state . . a swing state. The election could hinge on Michigan. And those Michigan protesters are not all Republicans . . . not by a long shot. People are pissed off and have had enough. Whitmer’s latest restrictions are outsized. They are the most stringent in America. I do not think Biden will choose her.

MAGA aka Trumpers. In fact the whole thing was cosponsored by a Devos family affiliated group.

Twitter. Seriously? Twitter is a ridiculous sewer. And it is about as far as you can get from being authoritative.

Michigan also hosts a major airport hub.

And no, Ohio does not have more restrictions. Or are the cops in Ohio also giving tickets outside Home Depot if you leave with any purchases they dont deem “essential”?

Sounds like the law enforcement isn’t entirely on board with the MI restrictions either. Planning to apply “common sense” instead.

Aka “dear Lord I hate it when people have video of the event, it really ruins my preconceived notions”.

You’ll notice the past tense in my statement.

The campaign for VP has begun! And Stacey is out there doing the campaigning. Her interview was published yesterday:

“I would be an excellent running mate,” Abrams said. “I have the capacity to attract voters by motivating typically ignored communities. I have a strong history of executive and management experience in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors. I’ve spent 25 years in independent study of foreign policy. I am ready to help advance an agenda of restoring America’s place in the world. If I am selected, I am prepared and excited to serve.”

Dear Lord I hope Biden selects her!!

Stacey Abrams thinks she would be ‘an excellent running mate’

She sure knows how to lose a close race, something that the Biden campaign needs help with, right?

Bernie Sanders is to Joe Biden as Mitt Romney is to Donald Trump:

Sanders says Biden’s sexual assault accuser ‘has the right to make her claims and get a public hearing’

With “supporters” like this, Vice President Biden will never have time to worry about his political opponents!!

And then there is AOC, backing Bernie up to the hilt. Does she actually WANT Biden to lose?

She lost a close race against the person who was in charge of counting the votes.

Given the various voting restriction shenanigans of Republicans, she’s got experience.

Georgia voter here. Stacey Abrams for VP means I vote third party for the second presidential election in a row. I do not understand the fascination with her except among those who champion identity politics. Among that group, she certainly checks all the boxes.

As far as I can tell, Brian Kemp (an idiot in his own right) acted within the law. I don’t see how he could have survived if he didn’t given the national attention the race garnered. Abrams basically made a name for herself by leveling accusations that she never quite seems to be able to back up. She was never going to win that race. People forget that the the close margin was simply to avoid a runoff. She didn’t have the votes to win the election and I firmly believe the runoff election would have had the same result.

Please, please, please remember that the VP this time around has an excellent chance of assuming the presidency and take a hard look at their qualifications rather than picking a feel-good race/gender pick.

From the NY Post, a formula for total Democrat victory in November. And it all hinges on Biden’s VP choice:

Here’s how it would work:

  • In the next month or so, Biden would announce Michelle Obama as his running mate. With a little reverse engineering of the Obama-Biden bumper stickers of 2008 and 2012, they’re good to go.

  • Michelle would immediately attract the undying worship of the national press corps. With the country still in lockdown, she can wave to Andrea Mitchell & Co. from the front door of her residences in Washington, DC ($8.1 million purchase price), Martha’s Vineyard ($11.75 million) or Chicago ($1.65 million).

  • Barack Obama, who manfully supports his wife in all her endeavors, would joke about being the First Husband and cite his familiarity with the White House as a qualification.

  • Nov. 3: With the black vote and the Bernie Sanders wing of the party solidly behind them, the Biden-Obama(s) team would defeat Trump in both the popular vote and the Electoral College, flipping Pennsylvania, Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona and North Carolina and winning both houses of Congress.

  • January 20, 2021: Joe Biden is inaugurated as the 46th president of the United States.

  • January 21: On live television, Joe and Dr. Jill Biden tearfully announce that the 78-year-old president is “unable to discharge the powers and duties of his office,” and that under the 25th Amendment, he’s resigning. Michelle Obama is now president of the United States and will not only fill out Biden’s term but will retain her eligibility to run again in her own right in 2024 when she will have turned 60.

  • January 22: President Obama announces her choice for vice president …

However unlikely, it’s the smart play. How could the Republicans ever counter it?
